Michał Tomasz Kamiński was born in Warsaw on March 28, 1972. He completed secondary school number 49 and then went on to study International Relations at the University of Warsaw as well as International Relations and Diplomacy at the Academy of International Relations and American Studies.

In 1989, he was the youngest founding member of the Christian National Union (ZChN). From 1994, he was the spokesperson of this party and from 1995 to 2001 he served on the ZChN's board of directors.

Michał Kamiński was a newspaper and radio journalist. He frequently published in Catholic journals and newspapers and before 1989 his work appeared in the underground press. Later, he was the director of radio stations in Bydgoszcz and Łomża.

In 1997, as Solidarity Electoral Action's second candidate in the elections to the Sejm, he ranked tenth in the nation in terms of support. In 1999, he won a journalists' poll for the best speaker of the Sejm. He successfully campaigned for reelection to the Sejm in 2001. In 2004, he received the mandate of Member of the European Parliament and was the first elected Polish MEP who spoke during the plenary session and the first Pole to become Vice-President of a political group.

Between 2007 and 2009, he was the Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. He is the coauthor of the election campaign of Law and Justice.

In his private life, Michał's passions include books, foreign languages as well as football. He lives in the Warsaw neighborhood Wawer with his wife Anna, their two daughters, Tosia and Nastka and a cat called "Small Ears".
